ANIMAL FARM

10 of us went to see the play at the “Theatre am Kaegfiturm” in Bern and what a revelation.
At the beginning, we were rather skeptical. Five men on the stage telling us where they came from – Romania, Bulgaria, Kosovo, Bosnia. A rather strange start and then suddenly you heard farm animal noises.
From then on we were swept into the plot.
It was extraordinary and ingenious, the way they seamlessly transitioned from being human one moment and animals the next.

Orwell’s book was published in 1945 based on events that had taken place in the 1917 Russian Revolution. Ironically the themes are still relevant today.

Afterwards we went next door to a super Italian restaurant and discussed the play over a glass of wine and a slice pf pizza.
