Christmas Dinner in Founex

As the first real nip of winter took hold, 39 of us braved the cold for some festive cheer at the Auberge de Founex.
After an aperitif kindly provided by the Auberge, we tucked into a traditional Christmas dinner, competed for the worst Christmas cracker joke and tested our brain power in Diana Smiths’ now traditional Christmas Quiz.
The evening would not have been complete without some rousing carols accompanied by Wolfgang Schutt on the piano.

We were honoured to have Camilla Chalmers, Head of communications at the British Embassy in Bern, as our guest of honour.
She raised a toast to His Majesty the King and suggested an idea to support Her late Majesty the Queen’s ‘Green Canopy’ project by planting a tree in her name, with a plaque donated by the British Embassy.
We shall look into finding the right location in the New Year.

As the photos show, Camilla clearly enjoyed herself and sent us a lovely message of thanks, which made both Pam and I feel the hard work had been worthwhile:
‘Honestly you guys really know how to put on a party! Another completely fabulous evening, we loved every minute!’

The evening came to an end with a rousing rendition of the Twelve Days of Christmas with all the actions – for those of us who were still standing!
We left the Auberge as the first snowflakes began to fall and I for one had the feeling that Christmas had really begun.
Many thanks to Di, Wolfgang, Ben, Valerie and everyone else who helped make the evening go with a swing.
