The pinacoteca Zust in Rancate is holding a small but delightful exhibition on the works of Renato Ballerini, where we gathered to view the pictures.
The artist, born in 1877 in Ravenna, Italy studied at the Accademia di Belle Arti in his home town and became one of the protagonists of Ticinese cultural life at the beginning of the 20th century when he transferred to Lugano in 1910.
As we were the only people there, there being no school parties, it was a really peaceful way to view these rather lovely paintings of Lugano and surroundings.
Afterwards we headed for a light lunch in Meride – a place we can thoroughly recommend – enjoying the scenery of Monte San Giorgio and much laughter over various stories about the TV!!! A good day had by all!
