After lunch we will have a guided tour, in English, of the Albert Anker Centre. It includes the artist’s studio and the family home, which has been in the Anker family for seven generations. The house has been restored and transformed and an Art Pavilion has been added as an exhibiton centre. Anker was born at the house in 1831 and died there in 1910. One of Switzerland’s most popular artists, he is well known for his portraits of the children and older people of Ins. He spent many years in Paris perfecting his art and visited the south of France and Italy where he painted many water colours, some of which are exhibited in the pavilion.
