A SEASON OF MILESTONES: SPORT, TRAVEL & CULTURE

IN UK – SWISS RELATIONS

We were delighted to follow the England Lionesses and Welsh Dragons as Switzerland hosted the UEFA Women’s Euro 2025, a record-breaking tournament that saw England triumph over Spain in a dramatic penalty shootout. With many British Nationals having made the trip over to the various stadiums across Switzerland, we ensured a safe and secure tournament with our Consular support, alongside exciting visits from HRH The Prince of Wales and Princess Charlotte, Prime Minister Keir Starmer and many British Ministers. The tournament left a lasting legacy for women’s football in both nations.

We were delighted to celebrate the 170th anniversary of the Friendship Treaty between the UK and Switzerland: from football pitches to award-winning films, anniversaries of both Jane Austen and Richard Burton and many more, every day marks the enduring strength and diversity of UK–Swiss connections.
October marks the rollout of the EU’s new Entry/Exit System (EES). From 12 October, British travellers entering the Schengen Area will need to provide biometric data – fingerprints and facial scans – at border crossings. The system replaces passport stamps and aims to improve security and streamline travel, though delays are expected during the transition. Travellers are advised to arrive early and have documents ready. Scan the QR code for more information on EES and our social media links
