Dear BRA Members,
Once again, on behalf of the Members of the British Residents’ Association, we proudly laid a wreath on Remembrance Day, the 11th November, at the Commonwealth War Graves Commission Cemetery at St. Martin’s Church in Vevey.
The red poppy is a symbol of remembrance of those who died or suffered in wars, conflicts and peacekeeping operations. Canadian Lieutenant-Colonel John McCrae first described the red poppy, the Flanders’ poppy, as the flower of remembrance.
As we are entering Advent and the Christmas season, we have arranged to visit a few Christmas markets and all the regions have a Christmas lunch or cocktail party to enjoy. January seems to be the fondue month and what better way to enjoy it but by partaking in this traditional Swiss cheese event. In December we will be sending you payment information for subscriptions due for 2025. You will either receive a request for payment with a QR-invoice or confirmation that you have already paid for 2025. Please note that at the AGM on the 31st May it was decided that we would once again not be increasing the subscriptions. Due to our financial good standing and our lead Sponsor Peritus Investment Consultancy, subscriptions have remained unchanged since 2019, I think that we still give good value for our money! I sign off by wishing you and your families a very happy Christmas and for 2025 may we welcome it in with good health, peace and goodwill to all mankind whoever and wherever they may be.
