Welcome / News / FROM THE BRA CHAIRWOMAN

Dear BRA Members,

The colder weather has arrived and along with it a Bulletin full of new events and articles.

Once again, on behalf of the Members of the British Residents’ Association, we will proudly lay a wreath on Remembrance Day, the 11th November, at the Commonwealth War Graves Commission Cemetery at St. Martin’s Church in Vevey.

Should we forget the red poppy is a symbol of remembrance of those who died or suffered in wars, conflicts and peacekeeping operations. Canadian Lieutenant-Colonel John McCrae first described the red poppy, the Flanders’ poppy, as the flower of remembrance. (Please see the remembrance day poem on page 34).

As we are entering Advent and the Christmas season, we have arranged to visit a few Christmas markets and all the regions have a Christmas lunch or cocktail party to enjoy. January seems to be the fondue month and what better way to enjoy than by partaking in this traditional Swiss cheese event.

In December we will be sending you payment information for subscriptions due for 2026. You will either receive a request for payment with a QR-invoice OR confirmation that you have already paid for 2026. Please note that at the AGM on the 30th May it was once again decided that we would not be increasing the subscriptions. Due to our financial good standing and our lead Sponsor Peritus Investment Consultancy, subscriptions have remained unchanged since 2019. I hope you agree that we still give good value for your money!

Some members have asked for a membership list but for data protection reasons and in accordance with Swiss law, we cannot provide anybody with the membership list. I sign off by wishing you and your families a very happy Christmas and for the New Year all best wishes from myself and the Council.
