Visit to the Roche Tower

The second visit to the Roche Tower in Basel was once again extremely popular and we had to close the bookings quite early as each tour can only take 20 people. So, 20 strong we went through the security checks which are really very thorough and then we were taken up by lift to the […]

Childrens Concert – The Flying Orchestra

On Saturday, 17 March , my two year old daughter Lillian and I attended  this event.  The idea behind the concert is to introduce small children to live classical music, in an appropriate setting.  There was ample room for the children, who were seated either on their parents’ laps or on cushions next to the […]

Ticino Spring Lunch 2018

It was good to see some members from the other side of the Gotthard at our Spring Lunch. For a change the hotel had arranged one big long table for the group. It was fun to all be together, although slightly more difficult to hear those on the other side of the table. Usually, when […]

Visit to the Gurlitt Legacy Collection in Berne

16 BRA members met at the Kunstmuseum for a guided tour of the first part of the Gurlitt collection. We had a very knowledgeable guide who gave us a detailed lesson in the history and politics in Germany in the years leading to the Second World War. So many things that we had learnt but […]

Fondue Evening

A small group of BRA members and one new person, who discover the BRA on our website, met up at the “Au Vieux Valais” restaurant in Sion old town. We had all come to eat that very typical Swiss dish, cheese fondue. What a great way to start a weekend. We were not disappointed, we […]

Funi’fondue

We had our traditional fondue Neuchaleloise at the Petit Hotel in Chaumont.
The weather wasn’t good, in fact we arrived in thick fog.
The fondue was delicious, the wine flowed and the company was delightful.

The exhibition was such a success it was extended twice until after […]

Day Out in Bergamo

A bright day, albeit with some scattered mist, greeted 15 BRA members as they set out, by minibus, from Lugano to Bergamo. After a stop for coffee on the Autostrada, we reached the Accademia Carrara in Bergamo, the main focus of the excursion. Here, we saw an exhibition of quite exquisite paintings by Raphael, lent […]

Talk by Lulu on Environmental Toxins

Talk by Lulu on Environmental Toxins, the Impact on your Food and your Health. Lulu Cerny, a well-known dieticien in Ticino, gave a very timely and well-attended talk, in a week where on the front page of the Times Teresa May asked for plastic free aisles in the supermarkets and on the front page of […]

Zurich Art Gallery “Praised & Ridiculed”

This was a superb exhibition of 19th century French art in all its diversity. Well labelled and hung to contrast the different 19th century interpretations of similar subjects: war, genre, portraits and finally landscape. Thought provoking. It is impossible to pick favourites so many of them are so attractive, regardless of which title they hold, […]
