An ancient legend tells us that the Chinese Emperor Shennong always loved drinking hot water. One day, during a meditation, the wind blew some tea leaves into his cup. The emperor enjoyed the new creation and thus, tea was born. Many millennia later, in the 17th century, the precious tea leaves reached England. Tea quickly became the symbol of the upper class and was finally established as Afternoon Tea during the reign of Queen Anne. The comfortable time-out with salty delicacies and sweet desserts was ideal for a well-balanced refreshment between meals.
