We have decided to start to discover the different areas in our North-West Region. Today we start with Olten.
Olten is easily reachable by bus and train.
The Old City, which includes a Roman era vicus as well as medieval and early modern developments, train station, the prehistoric and Roman era hilltop settlement of Dickenbaennli, the covered wooden bridge over the Aare river and the Naturmuseum are listed as Swiss heritage sites of national significance.
The entire town of Olten is part of the Inventory of Swiss Heritage Sites.
Many famous Swiss authors started their careers in Olten including Alex Capus, Franz Hohler, Pedro Lenz etc.
We will of course start by getting our bearings with a local coffee shop and will be having lunch in the old town.
