2019 marks the 80th Anniversary of the outbreak of the Second World War in 1939 and the 75th Anniversary of the D-Day Landings in Normandy in 1944 to start the liberation of Western Europe. To commemorate these historic events a concert, which has the non-financial support of the BRA, is being held at the magnificent Rosey Concert Hall in Rolle to raise money for the Invictus Games Foundation (IGF). Founded by HRH The Duke of Sussex, the Foundation organizes biennial Games for Armed Forces personnel with disabilities from all countries. The 5th Games will be held in The Hague, the Netherlands, next May.
The concert this November will feature the Brass Band Arquebuse, one of Switzerland’s leading bands directed by Jean-Pierre Chevailler, the Power of Lemania Pipe Band in full Highland regalia led by Pipe Major Ari Spassov, and the “In Remembrance Choir led by Kirsty Griffiths. Brigadier Richard Smith, CBE, who is the IGF Operations Director, is coming from the UK to open the concert which will be narrated by Major General Roderick Porter, MBE.
