We have organised what we think will be a very interesting private visit to the REGA helicopter base in Gordola.
There cannot be anyone in Switzerland who has not heard of REGA – throughout the year they are called out to rescue injured hikers or skiers in the high alps where road access is impossible. They also deal with traffic incidents ferrying the injured to hospital. All in all, a magnificent service which relies on donations to keep the outfit up and running.
The visit will last about one and a half hours where we will be shown the ropes by Mr. Sebastiano Franzoni a pilot for the REGA (and no, a quick flight in one of their brightly painted red and white helicopters is not included!!!)
The visit will be in Italian.
Afterwards we will then drive to Giubiasco to ‘our usual restaurant’- La Tureta, where a table will have been booked in the private room – here costs are individually paid for.
We hope many of you will join us for this rather different event!
Car sharing will be available, just call either Penny or Beverly for arrangements.
