Our outing for February will be a visit to the Villa Panza in Varese, Italy.
This palatial building was constructed in the 18th century and is now owned and operated by the Fondo Ambiente Italiano (FAI) which is Italy’s equivalent of the National Trust.
The very interesting collection of minimalist art was built up with visionary insight by Giuseppe Panza di Biumo between the late 1950’s and 2010 and is scattered around this elegant villa with its antique furniture which makes it an altogether interesting experience.
There are over 150 artworks all by contemporary artists and the Collection is well worth seeing.
Our guided tour in English is by Patrik Carroll who is the Vice President of FAI in Switzerland.
Afterwards lunch will be in the restaurant at the villa.
If the day is fine weather-wise we can also walk around the extensive garden too.
Please let Penny or Beverly know no later than 1 week before whether you would like to participate in this highly recommended visit, as we hope to organise car-pooling.
