Welcome / Past Events / All Past Events / Romandie-West Region / LUNCH BY THE LAKE AND A TALK BY MICHAEL MCKAY

The March weather did little to deter BRA members and guests from arriving – in high spirits – at the Hotel Real, Nyon, situated close to Lake Geneva.
We all enjoyed a delightful Italian lunch, with wine from Sicily, “interrupted” solely by our guest speaker having been invited to talk to us between courses!

Michael McKay is a face and a voice very well-known to us all through his deep involvement in our local English language business and social activities.
“The McKay Interview,” broadcast on local English language radio for more than eleven years, is a prime source of information, enlightenment and entertainment to a wide community.
In his informal and modest manner, Michael offered us his memories, anecdotes and technical difficulties experienced in interviewing over 200 top names.
These included Adolf Ogi, Sir Jackie Stewart, Mrs Mary Robinson and the irrepressible Kate Adie OBE.
More exciting interviews are in preparation.
Having introduced his talk as “Video Killed the Radio Star – well not quite yet!” and answered some probing questions from the floor, Michael encouraged his audience to use and benefit from local radio broadcasting, a medium certainly still alive and kicking.

Our regional Chairperson, Pam Walsh, echoed our appreciation to Michael for offering his time to provide an insider’s experience of the thrills and spills faced by journalists on a daily basis.
In turn, we thanked Pam for organising another very successful BRA-RW social event.
