Whoever is up there looking after the weather was kind to us on 9 July as we gathered for pre-lunch drinks generously offered by Romandie West Regional Chairman, Michael Bruce, and his wife, Antonia, in the garden of their delightful converted farmhouse home in Mollens. It was one of those balmy summer days that one always hopes for when an outdoor event is planned. Having thoroughly enjoyed our aperitifs, we climbed aboard our fleet of cars and wended our way upwards through charming villages and the idyllic landscape of the Jura Mountains to La buvette d’alpage in Les Croisettes, Vallée de Joux, With the weather being so agreeable we were able to eat outside on the veranda to enjoy our lunch; and what a lunch it was! The choice ranged from fondue or raclette to a splendid Assiette Croisettes (consisting of viande séchée, jambon de campagne, saucissons sec, and lard aux herbes with a copious salad. Wine, beer, soft drinks, water and a dessert (gateau au feu de bois,) plus coffee, were also included for the very reasonable sum of CHF 45. Suitably replete after our copious meal and alcoholic imbibing, we drove carefully back down the winding road to Mollens where Michael and Antonia once again provided more hospitality. It was the perfect end to a perfect day and our warmest thanks go to them.Michael Type |
