Christmas Lunch

The Central Region held its Christmas get-together in Neuchatel at the Hotel du Peyrou.
This beautiful 18th century building was a fitting scene for a memorable lunch, attended by 27 members.

Some participants who arrived by train from other parts of Switzerland – Berne, Lausanne, Fribourg and even Zurich – were kindly met at the station, which made up for the very chilly reception weather-wise.
However, on reaching the Hotel du Peyrou we found a welcoming fire blazing in the hearth and, coupled with a typical Neuchatel welcome of a white wine aperitif, proceedings got off to a splendid start.
Everyone was soon busy exchanging news and the temperature started to rise.

We were then treated to a superb traditional Christmas lunch prepared by the Australian chef, Craig Penlington :
Delicious roast turkey, with all the vegetable trimmings, gravy, cranberry sauce, etc. followed by a second helping.
The wine was excellent too.
What a feast, but it wasn’t over yet!
The plum-pudding and custard that followed were by general consensus outstanding and just in case there was still a bit of room left, Christmas Cake (the real thing) was served with the coffee!

Many, many thanks to Joy Sandoz for arranging such a wonderful and enjoyable gathering.
