This really was an enjoyable day out. It started with the realisation that our pre-purchased train tickets would run out at 12:00, long before we were due to journey home!
After catching the bus from Colmar station we arrived at the market place and before lunch were able to browse amongst the lovely stalls. There was a biting wind so we were quite relieved to get into the warmth of the restaurant for a real Alsace lunch.
The buildings in Colmar and Colmar itself are beautiful, we decided it would be well worth a visit in the summer.
Thanks to the nice french ticket collector, on the train home, turning a blind eye to our invalid tickets, we did manage to get back to Basel!
