Cool cats at Marianne’s
On 6 November fourteen cool cats from BRA dined off an excellent Beef Stroganoff and Tiramisu at Marianne’s jazz club in Bern, just in time to be ushered down to the comfortable, discreetly-lit Jazz room.
Minutes later, toes were tapping and fingers were drumming as Kenny Wayne led his trio off on a boogie-woogie introduction to the evening. For the next two hours we were regaled with blues, gospel, and rock ‘n roll numbers like “Georgia on my Mind” and “When the Saints go marching in”, as well as his own song about destitution on the streets of Vancouver.
In between, Kenny recounted memories of his early days in Los Angeles and San Francisco and his father’s church, where he had first learned his music.

Thanks so much to Joy for organising this very enjoyable event, and to Valerie as the hostess for the evening. Sadly, Joy could not participate owing to a bone-fracture. We send our best wishes for a speedy recovery.
