Thursday 18th November dawned cloudy and chilly, another in a series of cloudy days, but when we met at the Lion d’Or in Tannay the sun had come out and those among us who sat facing the windows were very glad that the curtains could be closed to keep the glare from our eyes – even if the curtains had to be adjusted as the sun made its apparent way across the sky.

The auberge had been newly renovated, so the surroundings were very pleasant and the service was welcoming, efficient and able to adjust as our numbers evolved somewhat to reach a total of 22 – including a couple of new members whom we were happy to greet.
Pam Walsh and Jan Powell made sure we were all seated so we could meet both new friends and those of long standing. The choice of meals seemed to suit everybody!

Having started at 11h45 it was after three o’clock when we concluded that we really ought to make our respective ways homewards, so clearly there had been no dull moments.
Two members had books to sell, one designed to keep one in suspense, and the other to help those affected by sleeplessness to nod off… trade seemed to be well-sustained.
