Following the traditional summer recess, our Chairman organised a social lunch for Tuesday 22 October, partially to celebrate the arrival of autumn. The parklands and famous jardin potager surrounding the ancient Castle of Prangins/VD, (which is also one of Switzerland’s National Museums) provided a perfect setting for enjoying the Plat du Jour and testing local wines.

17 Members and friends almost filled the relatively small restaurant of the Café du Chateau. Judging by the animated conversation, we had much news to exchange following the long summer break. Chatting in no way prevented us from indulging in a delicious lunch that included many items fresh from the Chateau’s own  gardens.

It was also valuable to our Association that three non-members present are most likely to sign up for Membership shortly.

Amongst the many favourable comments heard prior to our departure was the recognition that it had been a privilege to be able to meet in a restaurant that is itself an integral part of such a historic building. We came away thinking that, in a small way, we had contributed to the maintenance and welfare of one of Switzerland’s National Treasures.
