Some 15 BRA members, both old and new, braved the cold and wet summer afternoon on 10 August to gather in the well-loved home of Joanna Koch for afternoon tea. As we approached the front door, our senses were already being serenaded by the sweet-scented aroma of what lay ahead.
Once inside, we were greeted by the rich, warm tapestry of memories which had adorned the lives of Joanna and her family, and which served as an excellent backdrop for discussion. As the conversations flowed, it was hard to resist the temptation of what seemed to be a never-ending supply of tantalising home baked delicacies which accompanied the countless cups of tea.
Although the guest speaker was unable to attend due to ill health, the event was rounded off by entertainment from Barbara Carnt who, despite her advancing years, dazzled us with her piano playing, with legendary pieces by 18th century British composers, interspersed with some relative unknowns.
