Welcome / Past Events / All Past Events / North-West Region / Visit to the Chrysanthema, Lahr Germany

The charming old town Lahr, in the Black Forest, just north of Freiburg, becomes even more enchanting for three weeks in autumn, when the Chrysanthema is held. The whole town centre is decorated with thousands of chrysanthemums in full bloom.
A group from the North-West region went by train from Basel and was met by a delightful english speaking resident from Australia. This very informative guide lead us round the town (founded in 1278), giving us a very interesting dip into its history and the growing of Chrysanthemums.
We were then escorted to a restaurant where we had a delicious meal, chosen from about a dozen different options.

We had free time in the afternoon to continue our wanders in smaller groups and to go for coffee and cake in one of the many locations in the town. We then continued our chatting on the train back to Basel.
I am sure all participants would like to thank Yvonne Fenn for a really lovely day, she arranged everything (trains, buses, tickets, guide, restaurant etc) and all went off perfectly.
