The visit to the only glass works in Switzerland was an experience not to be missed.
Members from other regions joined us for this tour; Hergiswil is not far from Lucerne and easily reached by car and train.
We started by touring the factory and learnt about the history about when the factory started in 1817 to the present day.
We watched the glass blowers at work, and then we actually blew our own glass ball, of course with help from one of the experts! The ball was then carefully wrapped for us to take home.
After the tour, we went to look around the premier product shop and the second-choice shop. Hergiswil is on the lakeside so after the tour we enjoyed lunch at the lakeside Glasi restaurant.
Hergiswil is definitely the ideal place for an outing, either with family, in a group, or just with a few friends.
