What better way than to spend a foggy and cold Sunday afternoon than amongst friends enjoying a Sunday brunch and listening to Marians Traditional Jazz Band That is what nine BRA members did on 25th November. We met at the Innere Enge Hotel in Berne at 11 am and were welcomed with a glass of champagne. […]
On a warm and sunny September afternoon six Members met at the charming restaurant “Le Moulinet” in the picturesque town of Estavayer-Le-Lac to enjoy a Chinese lunch together. Afterwards our carriage, drawn by two well-groomed horses, was awaiting us to take us on a rather jerky ride through the beautiful forest of the Cheyres Nature […]
A merry band of BRA jazz aficionados, many on a repeat visit, made their way to the village of Lenk for the annual Jazz Tage in July. Once again impeccably organised by Joy Sandoz, the weekend group activities started with the reception apéro in our hotel, the Sporthotel Wildstrubel, where first-timers were welcomed, old friendships […]
On a beautiful mid summer’s evening on 20th June we celebrated our Queen’s birthday. The party was held in the gardens of the Hotel du Peyrou. It was a pleasant event, meeting old friends and enjoying the incomparable British humour. Joe smith proposed the loyal toast. Some of us stayed on till late in the […]
It was a beautiful sunny day when seven intrepid English speakers met up to descend into the basement of the Kunst Museum Bern to see the second part of the Gurlitt Legacy collection. Some outstanding gems delighted us and an excellent audio guide was very informative. Two good films, one a Swiss German production and […]
Thirty-three of us from all over Switzerland signed up for the BRA sell-out trip on 20 April to the internationally renowned Chaplin’s World at Vevey. It’s a place my wife and I had been talking about visiting for several years and when I read about the planned visit in the BRA Bulletin it was just the incentive […]
16 BRA members met at the Kunstmuseum for a guided tour of the first part of the Gurlitt collection. We had a very knowledgeable guide who gave us a detailed lesson in the history and politics in Germany in the years leading to the Second World War. So many things that we had learnt but […]
We had our traditional fondue Neuchaleloise at the Petit Hotel in Chaumont.
The weather wasn’t good, in fact we arrived in thick fog.
The fondue was delicious, the wine flowed and the company was delightful.
The Central Region held its Christmas get-together in Neuchatel at the Hotel du Peyrou. This beautiful 18th century building was a fitting scene for a memorable lunch, attended by 27 members. Some participants who arrived by train from other parts of Switzerland – Berne, Lausanne, Fribourg and even Zurich – were kindly met at the […]
In spite of the pouring rain twelve brave BRA members met in Fribourg on 31 August and the long-awaited trip around Fribourg finally took place. Luckily the petit train was not open to the elements and although the windows steamed up we had a wonderful tour – through the old and new town and over […]
